Danelaw Dance Band

 

Formed in 1969 and led by accordionist Robert Whitehead, The Danelaw Band regularly plays for Scottish Country Dances, Old Time Dances, Ceilidhs, Reel Parties, Corporate Functions and Accordion and Fiddle Clubs throughout the British Isles and worldwide.  Recent countries visited include USA, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Cyprus and Portugal and everywhere in the British Isles from the South Coast to Shetland and from Concerts in their native Northumberland to the Accordion Clubs of Northern Ireland.

Robert is the only “English” Scottish Dance Band leader to be honoured by The National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs and the Band was nominated as “Scottish Dance Band of the Year” at the prestigious Scots Trad Music Awards.

Although specialising in Scottish Country Dance Music the band is equally at home with all types of music for all types of events.  Barn Dances, Weddings, Social Evenings, Birthdays, Highland Dance Clubs, Festivals and all sorts of functions are catered for.  Distance is no problem to The Danelaw Band and neither is the size of the function, as fees will always fit your budget.  The Band can provide a professional “Caller” for Ceilidh Dancing, so whether you're an expert or a total novice you'll have a great time!!
