Glencraig Scottish Dance Band

The Band was formed in 1983 and named after two of Bandleader Nicol McLaren's working collies.

In 1989 they recorded their first cassette for the Dick Webster Cancer Fund, and also made their first "Take the Floor" broadcast.  To date they have made thirteen "Take the Floor" broadcasts and recorded six CDs. They are contracted to eminent Scottish Label, Greentrax, and have released the first two of a series of four CDs – “The Ceilidh” and “The Reel Party” will shortly be followed by “The Country Dance” and “The Old Time Dance”.

The Glencraig Band has won Box & Fiddle Awards – “Guest Artiste of the Year” and “CD of the Year” – and was nominated for Scottish Dance Band of the Year in the Scots Trad Music Awards.  Nicol is the Chairman of The National Association of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs and is regularly invited to judge at various accordion competitions and championships.

The Band can be booked as anything from solo accordion to a full six-piece outfit to suit function and budget.  If necessary a dance caller can lead the floor.

The Glencraig Band has played at festivals and events worldwide, in countries including Ireland, Germany, Corsica, Russia, Italy, Australia, Kazakhstan and United Arab Emirates.  Annual gigs include St Andrew's Night in Bahrain, The Shetland Festival, Up Helly Aa and New Year's Eve in The Spittal of Glenshee.

The Glencraig Scottish Dance Band can be booked for any function requiring Traditional Scottish Dance Music.
