Glenelvan Scottish Dance Band

The well known Glenelvan Dance Band is kept busy playing at various functions, from Old Time and Ceilidh Dances to weddings and bigger corporate events throughout the year.  The Band to date has broadcast five BBC Radio Scotland “Take the Floor” programmes.  The Glenelvan Band released a top-selling CD, “Real Time for Old Time” and is planning a second album in the near future.

Accordionist David Scott is the Bandleader and his wife, Judith Linton, plays fiddle.  The usual band line-up is accordion, fiddle, keyboard and drums, but this can be augmented or reduced to suit function and budget.  The Glenelvan Band often works with a Dance Caller who can give pointers to novice dancers if necessary.

For several years Judith wrote the CD reviews for Box and Fiddle Magazine and also occasionally performed this service for “Take the Floor”.  She is regularly one of the music tutors at the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society’s Summer School at St Andrews.  Judith also appeared as one of the musicians on the highly-rated TV series “The Edwardian Country House”.

In recent years the Band has played in Venezuela, India, The Falkland Islands and all over the UK.
