Mary Kathleen Burke
Mary Kathleen Burke, originally from Ireland but now firmly based in Scotland, has been described by Dr. Ian Green of Greentrax as "a brilliant talent". "I've been in the music business for more than 40 years," he said, "and I've not heard many like her. She's a wonderfully gifted performer, and a natural musician with an absolutely gorgeous voice. I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that she is going to become a great star." Mary Kathleen Burke is, indeed, a wonderful talent. She is a truly gifted singer/songwriter who released her first album "A Song in her Heart" to great critical acclaim in February 2008. Mary sings from her heart. Her song "My Scotsman and Thee", with its tale of longing for home, going home but being in love with someone from another country, epitomises a common theme in folk music. Mary wrote this song when she was only nineteen years old, but it is still as fresh today. Mary certainly manages to captivate audiences wherever she plays. Since the release of her debut album which was named album of the week on several radio stations both here and abroad, Mary has supported well known artists such as Donnie Munro and The Finlay MacDonald Band and she has recently toured in Italy. She presents her own radio show every week on Celtic Music Radio in Glasgow, with an eclectic mix of music and live guests. Mary is available for a variety of venues and events, from theatres to festivals, both at home and overseas. For more details of fees and availability please contact us.
