Scocha
Scocha is unique! There really is no-one quite like them. Once you have been to a Scocha gig, you will almost certainly be hooked for life. This Scottish Borders Folk 'n' Roll band performs a wide variety of songs, from haunting ballads to stirring anthems, all with their usual feel-good factor. It all began when two of the band met in a bygone era! Iain SCOtt and David CHApman (SCOCHA) began to play gigs in their native town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. It was not long before they were spotted and a loyal following grew around them. They started to play to ever-increasing audiences in ever-larger venues. As a duo they guested on BBC Radio Scotland’s “Take the Floor” and appeared on the Border Television programme, “Songs of the Border”, which was also available on video. Their first CD, "Bordering On", was released to great acclaim. They were joined on the album, and at the album launch, by Phil Clayton, a talented bass player from Rochdale, now living in the Borders. In 2004, their second album "The Land We Love" was released. They were joined on this CD by multi-instrumentalist Alan Brydon, who also composed the "Battle Dawn" track. Since then, we have been treated to a third album "Gie'd Sum Wellie", and the just released “Scocha Live” album. Scocha has now added another member to its line-up – Dougie "Animal" Anderson, who plays predominantly drums, but can also lend a hand with guitar and harmonica. Scocha continues to play to packed audiences, predominantly in the Borders. They are looking to move outside the comfort zone of their home area, with gigs all over Scotland, England and farther afield. They have recently played in Canada and America, in front of enormous audiences, where they have added an ever-growing number of fans to their fan base. Scocha has played alongside such acts as The Saw Doctors, Deacon Blue and The Proclaimers. It really is impossible to go to a Scocha gig without tapping your feet, jumping up and down, singing along – well, generally just having a fantastic time! Scocha is available for a variety of venues and events, from theatre to festivals, both home and abroad. For more details of fees and availability please contact us.
