Fiona Cuthill and Stevie Lawrence

Fiona and Stevie's musical partnership blossomed from a shared love of traditional and rock music.  They are currently members of Scottish-based band Rallion but have also recorded and performed together with various ensembles from the early music of Whirligig , the modern Celtic sound of Canterach to the progressive rock of Abel Ganz. The Duo will open for The Red Hot Chilli Pipers on selected dates on their upcoming Scottish Tour.

Fiona and Stevie release their debut CD later in 2009.

Fiona Cuthill was classically trained in violin by Bill Baxter, who played in the renowned Hallé Orchestra. After leaving school, she studied more traditional styles of playing and spent the next ten years playing in ceilidh bands and at  sessions all over the country.

Fiona has been a member of several traditional/folk bands in her career so far, including Whirligig, Canterach, and Real Time. She is currently touring with Real Time and has appeared on their latest release, Border Skies.

Fiona is in demand as a session musician and has appeared on many CDs. A tutor at the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop, she is also a prolific composer and one of her tunes has been recorded by renowned Quebecois band Le Vent du Nord.

Stevie Lawrence was initially involved in rock bands from schooldays and was active in the Glasgow pub-rock scene before turning to acoustic and roots music in the early Eighties. Having worked with Cruachan for 6 years playing festivals and folk clubs all over Scotland, he then joined the ranks of Iron Horse,  recording three albums with the band during a three year stint as well as touring all over the UK and Europe, and as far afield as Egypt.

After leaving Iron Horse, Stevie carved a career as session musician and producer and has worked with a diverse range of artists including Canterach, Gaelic singer and piper Anna Murray, Tannas, Mick West, John Wright, Carol Kidd, Lena Martell, Donnie Munro, Pete Seeger, Laura McGhee, Josh White Jr, Angus Lyon, Shane MacGowan, Maddy Prior, Dascha (German Pop Idol finalist), Keith Jack, Stuart Cassells, Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Abel Ganz.

He is also currently involved in multimedia and specially commissioned projects.
